Dare to Dresden Blog Hop - Day 3

I'm so excited to participate in the Dare to Dresden blog hop!!

Thanks so much to Madame Samm at Sew We Quilt and Christine at Quilt Monster in my Closet for organizing the blog hop! It's been a lot of fun with lots more fun to come!
As many others have said, when I saw the post for the Dresden Blog Hop, I knew I wanted to participate. I'm not sure what it is about the Dresden Plate design that is intriguing to me. Maybe it's the versatility of the wedge itself. Perhaps it's the history of the block, named for Dresden, Germany because of it's embellished porcelain plates.
Almost 18 years ago, I stitched up these blocks for the bridesmaids in my wedding. The cream color is fabric from my wedding dress. (I made my wedding dress, that's why I had the fabric.) The fuchsia color (it was the popular color at the time) is the fabric from my bridesmaid dresses. (My bridesmaids (my sisters) each made their dresses.) Sorry about the bad photo!
Moving on to what I made for the blog hop, I started with a mug rug using two mini Dresden's! As you can see I quilted 'rays' out from each of the wedges. I also used a decorative stitch around the binding. It measures 7 x 12 1/2. It was made using fabrics from my stash!

It's been really cold here in Arkansas and the mug rug is perfect for a cup of hot chocolate and extra marshmallows!

The next item on my plate to make was a Dresden Pillow! I love the blue and white! It makes me think of the blue and white design on porcelain dishes! The pillow measures 20 x 20 inches and the Dresden is 16 x 16 inches. These fabrics also came from my stash!
I was having so much fun, I made a Dresden Rag Table Topper. The ragging will look better after a few more washings. I think this one is my favorite! It's made of denim jeans that my 2 sons can no longer wear! I've already made a denim quilt using their jeans!
It's reversible! It needs to be washed a few more times to activate the ragging process! My sister bought me the spring loaded rag quilting scissors for Christmas! This was my first time using them and I LOVE them!

Here is one more photo of the Dresden table topper with a vase in the center!

Thanks so much for stopping by! This was my first blog hop and I've really had a lot of fun! Please stop by the other talented quilters on the today's schedule! Their links are listed below! I know they will inspire us with their creativity!

T-shirt Quilt

I hope everyone had wonderful Christmas and New Year celebrations!
I wish you the very best for 2013!
My sister finished a t-shirt quilt that has been about 18 years in the making, for her husband. She surprised him with it for Christmas. She did a fantastic job! She is very talented, she sews crafts and garments. She knits, crochets and tats! This is the first quilt that she completed! She hand quilted it too!

Her husband loved it!

Thanks for stopping by!
