Friday Night Sew-In Report

I'm so glad I got to participate in this months FNSI!  Of course I started the day pumped about it and by the time I got home from work (worked late) and got organized, I was tired.  However, I still had some energy left to sew.  I'm working on a raffle quilt for a friend and I sewed the 2 borders on last night!

I know that it would have been better to miter my borders, the outside beige and green fabric is actually one piece (striped fabric), it looks like 3 borders. I've not ever mitered borders and I didn't want to learn on the raffle quilt, and decided to not try it just yet.

Thanks for stopping by!
Gina

  2. The quilt is lovely! It took me a while to work up to mitered corners myself. The best tutorial I know of is: http://hazelsdiary.wordpress.com/2010/10/02/october-2-1951/

    Shelly makes it easy.

  4. Your quilt looks great! Yeah, do mitered corners when you have time - it really isn't that bad, but you do need to 'figure it out.'

  5. Thanks for your sweet comments on my blog :) And yes, I live by "better late than never!" Love the pattern on your quilt, and don't worry, there's plenty of time to learn mitering... I still have bias binding on my "to-learn" list :)

  8. Thanks for your comment on my blog. You had a great FNSI, I love your quilt and to use striped fabric on the border was a very clever idea. Never mind if they aren't mitered.

  11. Your quilt is looking great. It's bound to raise a potful of money when it's raffled. Don't be afraid of mitred corners... they are easier than they look... you can do it.

  12. Gina, What a great FNSI project! It looks great, I really like the colors you are using.
I can SO TOTALLY relate to your comment about starting the day excited for FNSI, but then when it is time feeling almost too tired to participate. My finished projects are usually much less ambitious than what I had planned.

  19. Thanks for visiting my blog. Very pretty quilt. Don't feel bad about not mitering the quilt. I don't do it so well. There are a lot of us that either don't know how or are still working on getting it right. Good luck with the raffle. :-)
